The Pre–Prep departments’ best resources are its friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated staff. There is a core team of form teachers, led by Kelly Elson, head of department, who care for the children on a day to day basis. They see their key roles as helping the children to learn, supporting them when they struggle, and encouraging them when they try; developing individuals’ talents when they become apparent. To help them do this job to the full, they in turn are supported by specialists in music, drama, sport and languages.

Our environment is another key resource and we make the most of our surroundings: a spectacular location nestled between the sea and the mountains. We use these natural resources to our advantage in academic and extra-curricular activities.

Even the school grounds lend themselves to the learning. There is a playground, with views over the sea, in which to run and jump, and there are woods in which to hunt for bugs and build dens. Our Forest School brings even greater opportunities to study in the open air and was introduced as an ‘outside classroom’ during September 2011. Find out more about Forest School

The adventure playground is a place in which pupils learn to balance and climb and the lovely green lawn we call ‘the plateau’ is often used for athletics, to play cricket, rounders and football, as well as for outdooor celebrations.

Inside the school we have a large school hall in which gymnastics is taught and plays and musical performances take part.

There is a Music Studio, an ICT Suite which has enough computers for every pupil in a class to have one, a very well stocked and well used library with specialist library staff and an elegant dining room where everyone can come together to eat and to socialise.

Facilities are also shared with the senior division of the school and the tennis courts, netball courts and newly refurbished swimming pool are used on a regular basis.

In terms of class rooms, the Pre-Prep has six teaching classrooms which all have interactive white boards and in addition they use two role play rooms which are linked to specific topics being discussed.
