A musical lunchtime for Prep pupils

A very cold and chilly Wednesday lunchtime saw parents, teachers and pupils flock into the School Hall to hear Year 4 and Ensemble Cymru in concert.

Beginning with a piece played on the clarinet by Perryn Clement-Evans and Sioned Roberts from Ensemble Cymru, pupils from Year 4 then took over for individual performances. A huge well done to Niamh Cook, Eve Perring, Kevin Farrell and Nicholas Riding who all played pieces on the piano.

The concert concluded with a traditional Japanese folk song, ‘Sakura’ which demonstrates steps and leaps in music – where notes are very close together – which Year 4 have been learning about during their Music lessons. Year 4 sang the song as Mr Williams played the piano and Perry and Sioned played along on their clarinets.

The next Informal Concert will take place on Wednesday 22 February 2012 at 1.10pm in the School Hall featuring pupils in Year 5. Parents and grandparents are welcome to attend and enjoy the musical entertainment.
