Sing-a-long fun at informal concert
The first informal concert of the year took place on Wednesday (11 January 2012) with pupils from Year 3 taking centre stage.
Pupils performed two pieces for the audience who included parents, grandparents and fellow pupils. The first was an improvised piece, which saw pupils playing along on their assembled instruments (including many glockenspiels, a double bass and piano) to the ‘tick tock’ rhythm Mr Williams was playing on the piano.
Next Mr Williams explained how the class had been learning about playing around with music, moving sections and using fragments of popular pieces to create a new unique piece of music. Mr Rose kindly joined the pupils and played a fragment of Mozart on the clarinet while Year 3 played the accompaniment, to put a new twist on a classic.
An excellent individual performance by Isabella Rutherford followed before the whole of Year 3 were up and singing ‘Okki tokki unga’ for the audience complete with actions which parents and teachers got involved with too!
Finally the concert ended with a sing-a-long to ‘Yellow Submarine’ with words up on the screen for the audience to join in!

The informal concert series is a fantastic way for pupils to get involved with music, trying out new instruments and performing in front of an audience. The next concert will be the Informal Pop Concert taking place at 1.10pm in the School Hall featuring pupils from Years 3 -6. As always parents and grandparents are invited and we look forward to welcoming you for a fun and pop-filled lunchtime.
