Christmas Chaos!
The Pre-prep department took to the stage as they starred in an original Christmas play, ‘Christmas Chaos’ written by our very own Gaynor Davies, Deputy Head of Pre-Prep with music written by head of Music, Peter Williams and directed by Head of Pre-Prep, Kelly Elson.
Set in and around Father Christmas’ workshop in the North Pole, children from as young as 2½ took part in this brilliantly funny and entertaining play, with plenty of catchy musical numbers.
The fantastic sets produced by Miss Cathy and Miss Ruth really helped to set the scene as we visited Father Christmas (played by Charlie Maguire) and Mrs Claus (played by Katie Pritchard-Jonas) who were told by toy Production Manager (played by Jake Platt) that there weren’t yet enough toys made for Christmas! Thankfully, the hard working elves, brilliantly portrayed by Chay Bonnington, Alex McCready, Clementine Mealor-Prithcard and Ella Warren-Roberts were willing to work through the night, every night to make sure the presents would be ready on time.
The chaos truly began when Father Christmas’ cheeky cousins Bodge-It and Blunder, played by Freddie Spillane and James Copeland visited the North Pole. The cousins ignore the warnings of Adam McGuigan, playing the Health and Safety Officer, who advises them not to visit the Father Christmas’ reindeer without training, and promptly set them loose! Year One pupils took to the stage playing the reindeer and sang a lively rendition of ‘The Reindeer Song’ complete with dance moves.
The play drew to a close with enchanting performances from the Reception class as Penguins followed by Early Years who played monkeys who had escaped from the zoo, thanks to Bodge-It and Blunder!
The whole cast took to the stage for the final song of the show before rapturous applause filled the School Hall. Following the finale, one parent commented: “It was an absolutely magical Christmas play which was thoroughly entertaining and lifted my Christmas spirit. Adorable”
