On Saturday 19th November the U11 hockey team played Packwood Haugh.

The match started with a Packwood push back and they soon managed to score the first goal of the match. This followed with several more goals from Packwood. Then it was half time. Mrs Pyves gave us a quick pep talk and we were back on the pitch.

Rydal managed to stop Packwood scoring any more goals in the second half of the match and there was some excellent defence from Emma Murphy and Helena Rowlands. The match ended with Emma getting man of the match. Thank you to Mrs Pyves for encouraging us.

Report by Amy Bale

On the 19th November Rydal U10s, U9s and U11s hockey teams went to the astro at the Senior School to play Packwood. The U10s: Tilly Lewis, Keira Bonnington, Brona Richardson, Scarlett Spillane, Anna Parry-Williams, Amy Bale and Phoebe Taylor all played well. We started off with Rydal first centre pass with Phoebe Taylor passing back to Amy Bale.

Rydal were good at passing between players and nearly scored a few times but unfortunately couldn’t get the ball into the goal.

Keira was very strong in defence and I hope she enjoyed it. Packwood were better in the second half but still couldn’t slip a goal in.

Poor Tilly didn’t have much to do in the game but when she did, she made really good saves.

I would like to say thank you to Mrs Pyves, Mrs Stevenson and all the parents for supporting us. And I would like to say a special well done to Phoebe Taylor for being voted man of the match.

Final score was 0-0

U9 hockey v Packwood Haugh (home)

Report by Anna Parry-Williams

On Saturday 19th November, the Under 9 hockey team gathered on the astro turf at the Senior School to play Packwood Haugh. When we all had arrived we had a quick warm up and did some passing drills. When Packwood were ready we had an encouraging talk with Mrs Pyves and we were ready.

We had the first centre pass, the whistle blew and we were off. Savanna Dickens passed the ball to Ellie-Rose Smith, who got the ball to Anna, who tried to pass to Savanna but the other team slipped in front and ran down the pitch and scored a goal. Savanna then passed the ball to Anna and down the pitch but unfortunately had nobody to pass to so went into a bunch of defenders, which lead to two other goals. By half time the score was 3-0 after a pep talk it was time to start again.

Rydal were determined to score a few goals. We were having a much better half now and almost scored but just missed. Finally Savanna scored a fantastic goal. With some great defending from Eleanor Osbourne and Cerys Cuddihy we managed to keep the ball out of our goal for a bit. Unfortunately, the other team got 3 more goals in, but Savanna managed to score another brilliant goal which meant the final score was 6-2 to Packwood. Well done to all the team and thank you to Mrs Pyves for all her support.

Final score: 2-6 to Packwood Haugh
