Swim team compete in Urdd Swimming Gala
With thanks to Molly Noad for this report:
On the 17th November, the Rydal Swim Team travelled to Llandudno to compete in the Urdd Gala. First up were the Year 5 and 6 individual races.
Matthew Harrison was in the very first race of the day – swimming freestyle 50m – and won. This was a great start!
Daisy Lee-Browne swam next, again swimming freestyle. She came second in a very close race.
Thomas Bale swam 50m backstroke against very tough competition. Thomas sadly did not get through.
I swam next in the individual breaststroke. It was hard work but thankfully I won and made it through to Cardiff.
The next races were relays. The boys’ freestyle team of Matthew Harrison, Thomas Bale, Will Sissons and Adam Lee-Browne went first, and amazingly, won by a whisker. Matthew and I were no longer on our own!
The girls’ team didn’t enjoy the same success and will not be going to Cardiff.
The Under 9s boys swept the board with wins from Finlay Hare who competed in the freestyle and backstroke. Finan Close competed in the breaststroke and Teddy Roberts swam the butterfly. The boys along with George Smith Edwards also successfully won the relay.
Congratulations also go to the U9 medley relay team of Lily-Rose Leong, Cerys Cuddihy, Niamh Chamberlain and Bella Rutherford who won their race.
