Rydal Penrhos Early Years is flexible

We offer places on a full-day, half-day and flexi basis to suit all parents’ needs and wishes.

Children can join the Early Years department just for one morning to experience learning and play without a full commitment from parents straight away. We seek to work with parents at their pace and requirements and to meet the individual needs of each child.

For working mums and dads, we offer wrap-around care from 8.00am until 6pm in the evening using our Earlybirds and After School service.

A structured day with fun activities

We offer a lot more than childcare. We follow the national Foundation Phase of learning, and provide a healthy lunch. Children are introduced to gym, ballet, Forest School and music from an early stage and are welcomed into a larger, caring school community from the outset. By being part of a school as well as a nursery, children can enjoy taking part in an even wider range of fun, social activities.

Set on a hillside overlooking the sea, the school enjoys a superb setting for the development and growth of its pupils.
Roger McDuff, headteacher of the Prep School

Specific learning areas and continuous provision

The Early Years department is made up of eight different areas of learning consisting of a circle-time room and music area, construction, reading, discovery and outside areas, a creative room, a numeracy and literacy room and, finally, a role-play area. The idea behind this continuous provision is that children initiated learning is valued and supported. Now click here to read about the Foundation Phase of Learning’s goals.

A safe, secure and happy environment

Codes for the department’s doors keep children safe, but parents are welcome to pop in at any time. Because of our ‘open door’ policy, we know most of the parents as well as the children and we deal with concerns as they arise. No issues are allowed to develop, as they are sorted out immediately.
