Sporting and fitness
Horse riding
The Riding Club is for pupils in years 1 and 2 . We go to Dolgoed Riding centre in St Asaph every Monday after school and the children learn how to control the pony and manage a sustained rising trot. A minibus takes them each way, although parents are welcome to come and watch. There is a maximum of 8 pupils who can be accommodated – we are always fully subscribed.
Judo
External instuctors come to the school to run judo classes, under the supervision of the PE department.
Squad training
Extra-curricular sports training for squads playing tag and contact rugby, football, netball, hockey, swimming and skiing. Prep pupils are encouraged to take part in fixtures and competitions that take place throughout the school year.
Sailing
Prep school children in years 3-6 are taken out on the water on Tuesday evenings, accompanied by trained members of staff and experienced sailors from the senior school.
Skiing
Prep school skiiers have enjoyed great success recently, competing and winning medals at regional, national and international competitions. Ski Club runs on a Thursday evening September to Easter – and we do have a very busy club, averaging 80 pupils a week.
Swimming
All year groups from Reception up get a swimming lesson once a week for the whole school term. In addition we run Race Squad training on Monday evenings, which pupils are invited to join.
Race Training sessions take place on a Wednesday evening for members of the aforementioned Race Squad, with some senior school pupils joining in. Swimmers have enjoyed wins in National events
Swimming lessons are available throughout the week and at weekends.
